Critique

Here's food for thought.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Words To Live By

Can having words to live by really be dangerous?

Yesterday I heard a person say he was against animal cruelty laws because he couldn't find a logical and defensible set of words to defend them. If he saw a new machine, would he refuse to believe it existed until he could explain it and describe it? Reality, and the reality of right and wrong, exist outside of words - they are not the words themselves. In my opinion I guess they sometimes can be.

It's great to have guidelines, like "don't lie," or "we have the right to defend ourselves." It is even better to remember that these rules will someday fail us, and we will have to make new ones.

Words are just tools. How do you think cults are started, word manipulation. There are words to die by, but there are no words to live by.

Jibber Jabber

If pro is the opposite of con, is progress the opposite of congress?

Well, with the way the economy seems to be diving today it sure seems that way. With Obama in office I wonder if he could flip this word meaning for me, that sure would bring about some 'change.' Speaking of politics, I was speaking to a friend the other night about the governor of Illinois, Blagojevich. He is under the belief that the governor is being paid off to be a corrupt politician, I laughed but didn't debate about it. I myself disagree with anyone out there that believes this. You don't just learn that language and conduct overnight, it takes years to acquire 'mob boss' tongue. Just think about it.

Bear What?

What was I thinking, or was I?

Today I'm watching the Discovery Channel and I am seeing all of these wonderful animals. So they are doing a segment on polar bears and how they are going extinct. I'm watching and watching, then a commercial with panda bears comes on. All out of the blue this question comes to mind, and I even wonder if there are any scientist out there, evil scientist at that, that have attempted this. What would you get if you mated a polar bear with a panda bear? They are both on the endangered species list, why not make a mixed breed? But I guess that would bring about a third animal on the list of endangered species. Crossbreeding bears, I know that somebody out there has thought of this besides me. If it's possible I would not mind seeing it happen.

Is there anyone out there that thinks this would be a cruel act toward the bears, or any other animal? Just think about it, or tell me I'm crazy.

My First Post Don't Strangle Me

Do you really want to join me in my world of chaos?

We will find out shortly.

This is my first post, of many, on my(and many others') random thoughts, questions, and ideas on today's society, political figures, the economy, religion, people of fame and anything you or I can think of. Some may think of the things I discuss as crazy, stupid or irrational, but like I was told by several authoritative figures growing up 'there is no such thing as a stupid question', and in my opinion it's the same for thoughts and ideas. Some things I may get in-depth with, while with others I will just put out there.

Just imagine how many thought provoking questions there are out there, the outlandish ideas a person can have, or the ridiculous thoughts that some people are afraid to think of. Well, I am going to take you there in my blog, and hopefully leave you a little open-minded about some things. Just think about it.

I guess I can start you off with something. Here's something to ponder on, and you may ask yourself 'is this guy serious?' Yes I am.

I just finished eating an orange. So I thought about this, we call an orange an orange, so why don't we call a lemon a yellow or a lime a green? I'm pretty sure some of you have heard this at least once in your life, but can you come up with another name for an orange? Lets call an apple a red instead. Now to throw you in a loop, and this one is out there, I have a friend that is undergoing a few medical procedures and this came to mind. Can we pay less for a surgeon who kills more people on the operating table than he/she saves? Obviously there are better and worse physicians. Why not have their information available, and pay accordingly?

Do you think that I am a little off in the head because I switched up the questions like that? Well, you might never know unless you join me in my next post.
